I BOUGHT THE CHEAPEST NIVEA SUNSCREEN AND HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED: Nivea Face Sunscreen Review

Hi guys! I am continuing the Nivea review series with the cheapest Nivea sunscreen that I could find! This one does not even have an outside packaging it just comes like this. Picture below.

Can you get decent sun protection with this one? Let’s find out!

CLAIMS

This one offers high and immediately effective protection against UVA & UVB radiation and sunburn, it’s SPF 30 and broad spectrum. The moisturizing formula provides the skin with moisture for 24 hours and thus works against premature skin aging. The light texture makes the skin feel soft and quickly absorbed. So it leaves no white residue – ideal for daily use.

INGREDIENTS

This one has similar ingredients to Nivea Q10 Anti-Age and Anti-Pigment sunscreen. We have Q10 co-enzyme and Glycerine. Q10 co-enzyme is an anti-oxidant and Glycerine is a humectant.

It also has similar UV filters as Nivea Q10 Anti-Age and Anti-Pigment sunscreen: Avobenzone, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Tinosorb S, Ensulizole, Uvinul T 150, Uvinul A Plus (this is a new generation, chemical sunscreen agent that’s designed for high UVA protection and high photostability).

Being that this is SPF 30 and broad spectrum, if you know that broad spectrum means that UVA protection is at least 1/3 of the SPF(UVB protection), then you know that you are getting less UVA protection here than when using an SPF 50 broad-spectrum sunscreen for example. Just being captain obvious here. But sunscreen is cheaper because of that.

CONTROVERSIAL INGREDIENTS

Alcohol and Fragrance. Alcohol is not controversial for me; it’s a penetration enhancer and a solvent. It creates cosmetically elegant lightweight formulas. If you ask me, this is a good ingredient. But as you know I am always mentioning it here because I know that some people are sensitive to alcohol.

Fragrance on the other hand is controversial because it can irritate sensitive skin.

DEMO APPLICATION AND HOW IT FEELS ON THE SKIN

This has exactly the same sensor characteristics as Nivea Q10 Anti-Age and Anti-Pigment sunscreen! And luckily for me, it’s not causing the strange irritation that Nivea Q10 did. So I can actually use this one, yay! If you don’t know what I am talking about watch the video below for more info.

It(Blue Cheap Nivea Face Sunscreen) has a lightweight texture, but it’s very moisturizing, spreads out easily, and leaves no white cast. This is 2 in 1, a moisturizer and sunscreen, and will be great for dry skin types. My skin feels very soft and well-moisturized right after application. Watch the demo application down below.

Overall I love the texture and sensor characteristics of this sunscreen and how It feels on the skin.

LAYERING

It layers well, with no peeling or balling up. The second layer gives you an even more intense glow, so this is the part where you might need a little setting powder in certain areas, but it’s still not greasy, sticky, and heavy on the face, just very well moisturized.

FINAL VERDICT

I love it. It’s a great everyday 2in1 product, a moisturizer, and sunscreen. You don’t get very high UVA protection here, so I wouldn’t use it when I’m using Retinoids for example because Retinoids increase the skin’s sensitivity to sunlight and I don’t mess around when I use Retinoids, I need high UVA protection then.

So do I recommend it? Well yes and no. Since the best sunscreen is the one that you use every day. This one is cheap and has great sensor characteristics, so you won’t avoid using it because of the sensor characteristics, and I think that is really important.

But then again, I wouldn’t recommend using it if you have sensitive skin, and I wouldn’t recommend relying solely on it when your skin is especially sensitive to sunlight. That is for example, after a chemical peel, or when using ingredients that increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight (Retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs).

And that’s it. Is this the best sunscreen ever? Well no, I wish it has higher both UVB and UVA protection. But it is affordable, has great sensor characteristics, and has decent UV protection.

As always take everything into consideration that I have said so far and figure out if this sunscreen would be a good match for you or not.

And that’s it! Hope this was helpful! Thank you for reading!
