TOP 4 LA ROCHE POSAY (EUROPEAN) SUNSCREENS 2022

Hi guys! Welcome back to my blog! In today’s blog, I want to share my top 4 picks of La Roche Posay Sunscreens. If you are new to this blog, I am Danny. I am a pharmacist specialized in Cosmetology, and here on my blog I do skincare product reviews and skincare educational blog posts, if this is your thing you are welcome to subscribe to my mailing list!

Now let’s see, La Roche Posay is the leading European Brand for sun protection, and their products have superior UVB and more importantly superior UVA protection. If you are not sure why is UVA protection important, well that is because most of the UV rays that reach the earth’s surface in the first place are UVA rays, and compared to UVB, UVA rays can penetrate deeper layers of the skin and cause photo-aging, a.k.a wrinkles and dark spots.

I mention this all the time, UVB protection is not a problem, we have plenty of UVB filters on the market, but we don’t have as many UVA filters.

That’s why I adore La Roche Posay products because I know that I can count on LRP sunscreens and their superior UVA protection when I’m using ingredients in my skincare that are increasing my skin sensitivity to sunlight, like Retinoids, AHAs or BHAs, etc.

Ok so I briefly explained my opinion on the brand and now let’s start with my top four picks!

The first sunscreen that I want to show you is La Roche Posay UVMUNE400 Hydrating Cream SPF50 PA++++.

This one is my current favorite for the winter because it’s very moisturizing and it nourishes my skin well, which is much needed for me because I have dry skin.

It has a total of 8 UV filters:

Ethylhexyl Salicylate

Tinosorb S,

Uvinyl T 150,

Avobenzone,

Mexoryl 400,

Uvinyl A Plus,

Mexoryl XL,

Mexoryl SX

The most important ones are of course the L’oreal group exclusives: Mexoryl XL, Mexoryl SX, and Mexoryl 400, the only UV filter that protects against the ultra-long UVA rays, or to be more specific it covers that hard-to-reach 380nm to 400nm gap of UVA 1 rays. It’s the only filter that does that.

DEMO APPLICATION

This one is more on the thicker side in comparison to other sunscreens and is more emollient than most. It gives a glowy finish and leaves no white cast. Layers well, no peeling nor balling up, and the second layer gives you even more glow. All in all, this sunscreen is going to be amazing for people who have dry and sensitive skin because it’s very moisturizing, has no fragrance, and plus can be applied around the eye area as well, it does not sting. Watch the demo application down below.

Next up we have La Roche Posay UVMUNE 400 INVISIBLE FLUID

This is the 2022 version of the old Shaka Protect Fluid! It has the same sensor characteristics as the old Shaka Fluid, but it has 2 more UV filters added. The filters are matching the ones in the UVMUNE 400  Hydrating Cream (Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Tinosorb S, Uvinyl T 150, Avobenzone, Mexoryl 400, Uvinyl A Plus, Mexoryl XL, Mexoryl SX).  So this one as well covers the hard-to-reach 380nm to 400nm gap and offers superior UVA protection.

Sensor characteristics are the same as in the previous version, it’s liquid, and it spreads out easily, leaving a glowy finish and no white cast. Watch the demo application down below.

This one is not as emollient as the UVMUNE 400 Hydrating Cream and is much more light-weight so because of that I think this one is going to be perfect for people who have normal to oily skin, but also people who have sensitive skin because it has no fragrance and lastly this one will be a good fit for acne-prone skin types as well because it has no comedogenic ingredients.

My third pick for you guys is La Roche Posay Age-Correct SPF 50 Sunscreen

Now this one does not have the new UVMUNE 400 filter Mexoryl 400, but it does have the old Mexoryls(Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL), which is again more superior to most sunscreens on the market. This sunscreen is SPF 50 and broad spectrum, which means that the UVA protection is at least 1/3 of the claimed UVB protection and that is SPF 50.

Now why is this one in my top 4 picks, well this one has amazing sensor characteristics, it’s very moisturizing, it’s a 2in1 sunscreen and a moisturizer, it spreads out easily and leaves a lovely glow on the skin with no white cast. It also has Niacinamide, Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid, and Phenylethyl Resorcinol (a compound that shows moderate results in fading dark spots).

Now I am not recommending this one for removing dark spots (you should get a good serum for that) I am recommending this one because of its amazing sensor characteristics and L’oreal group exclusive UV filters.

This sunscreen does have two cons that I have to mention. Firstly, it peels a little after the second layer, but it’s nothing too crazy and it wasn’t a big problem for me. But in case this is a problem for you I want to mention it. And secondly, it has fragrance so I don’t recommend it to people with sensitive skin. Watch the demo application down below.

Now my last pick is for all my people out there who are on the budget because let’s be real, sunscreens are expensive. I am lucky that now I have reached a point in which brands are sending me free products and this kind of became my job so I have plenty of facial sunscreens for the whole year.

But it wasn’t always like that, and let’s face it, 20 bucks for a 50ml sunscreen is expensive. So if you are on a budget, this next pick is for you.

LA ROCHE POSAY FACE&BODY INVISIBLE SPRAY SPF 50 PA++++

This one is meant to be used on the face and on the body, so if you are on the budget, here is a little hint, get this one and use it only on your face.

This one has similar sensor characteristics as the invisible fluid, it’s a little bit shinier but that can easily be fixed with some face powder.

Now this one again does not have the new UVMUNE 400 filter Mexoryl 400, but it does have one of the old Mexoryl filters: Mexoryl XL. This one gives you very high both UVB and UVA protection, SPF 50 PA++++. So it doesn’t have the new UV MUNE 400, but it still offers superior UVA protection.

Plus for 24$ you get 200ml which is like getting 4 separate facial sunscreens. I do have a review on this one, comparing it to Invisible Fluid, so if you are interested in a more detailed review, you can watch this video.

And there you have it, those would be my top 4 La Roche Posay Sunscreens! Let me know if this video was helpful in the comment section down below, and I will see you in my next video! Thanks for reading!
